Family (Disneyland) by Jen M

Last weekend, when we were all trying to find some inspiration to scrapbook, Karen challenged us with sketch 73 from the Sketch This blog.  I find that sketches are very inspiring because I have a hard time deciding on products and layout design (especially after a 10 month sabbatical).  I really wanted to do something with this photo which was taken right before Christmas when Lance, the boys and I met up with my mom, aunt, sister and cousin and their families for a weekend trip to Disneyland.  As you can imagine, we had a great time.  And I owe a thanks to Karen for the button placement idea for the "Mickey ears".  She did this years ago and I have always wanted to use it on a page of my own.

Padres 2006 by Jen M

As you may know, we are a big baseball family.  My oldest son, Jordan has been playing competitive baseball for several years now and he is very gifted.  I love taking baseball photos and I often take pictures for him as well as the other players on his team.  I have more pictures than I know what to do with so at minimum, I want to create a book with one page of him every season in his batting stance with his uniform and his number.  I believe I have already shared a picture from him last spring.  This page features a photo from the fall of 2006.  He is only 7 years old and he looks like a pro already!  Now that the season is kicking back into gear, I really want to get the rest of his photos done before I take any more.  I'm not too optimistic, but it can happen.  I have been staring at this page for 2 hours thinking that it needs something else.  But since I can't seem to figure out what that would be, I am calling it done.  My design and colors are inspired by the San Diego Padres logo.

Thanks to Jen 's sketch challenge, I am actually posting a layout!  This is my first page in nearly a year.  How sad is that?  Anyway, these are my sweet boys along with my neices who visited in April.  I know it's hard to believe but their matching outfits were completely coincidental.  Aren't they all so cute together?  Have a great weekend!

Rattlers 17 by Jen M

Can you believe, I finally have a layout from me?  I think that puts a total of 4 in my gallery.  How sad is that?  Anyone who knows me knows we are pretty much consumed with baseball which drastically cuts into my free time.  But I did manage to get a page done over Spring Break.  I am hopeful that I can keep it going.  :)  Right now, my goal is to do a page for each team my boys plays on.  This is the second layout I have done for my oldest, Jordan.  He plays on a tournament team now and this picture is from a few weeks ago.  He is very serious about baseball which is crazy because he is only 7!  I wish I had the talent he has.  This is a pretty simple page but I love the patterned paper.  I think it was made for this photo.  (The colors didn't scan quite as good as they look IRL.)

Two for Tuesday with Jen M

Happy Halloween!!!!! I hope you all are having a fun filled day of costumes and candy.  We have had our fill already and it is only 2:00 in Houston!  We have a beautiful day for trick-or-treating and I can hardly wait to get all of the kiddos dressed up and out the door.  I have yet to open my candy because I don't trust myself.  Only a few hours to go!

Today, I am sharing 2 layouts I did for QuicKutz.  I never posted them online so technically they aren't new to me but I hope they are new to you.  :)  The first page is Jordan dressed up as Spider-man.  It seems like so long ago that he wore this costume.  They grow up fast, don't they?  On the second page, you may have recognized that the photograph is Cheryl's very own Lucas.  In fact, one of his Franklinstein photos is featured in the December issue of Simple Scrapbooks.  Go check it out if you haven't already!  Both of these pages are simple but I like it that way.  I hope you do, too.  :) Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day.

Young Love? by Jen M

If you didn't know, Karen and I are best friends.  We have known each other for more than 10 years and even though we live so far apart, we are as close as we have ever been.  We have always joked that our kids should get married when they grow up which will work out nicely for me because she has the girls so she has to pay for the weddings.  LOL.  Anyway, when she visited me 4 years ago in Houston, we had this picture taken of Kayleigh and Jordan together.  Can you believe how little they are?  I really would love it if they got married one day.  But it might not be so easy living in different states.  I need to work on the logistics of that one.  :)  Have a wonderful day and we'll see you tomorrow!

Two for Tuesday with Jen M

Believe it or not... I scrapped two layouts in one day.  I haven't done that in probably a year so I am pretty excited that I get to actually share them.  :)  I have been really inspired by Cheryl and her simple graphic design and thought I would give it a shot.  I am pretty happy with the result.  Although, now that I look at them, the overall design is extremely similar. Go with what works, right?  :)  The first page is my son, Joseph on his tandem bike with my husband.  The title reminded me of the song my Grandpa used to sing when I was a little girl.  (I guess I need to add that to the layout somewhere, huh?)  The second page is Jared with his white kitty.  Have a great day and we'll see you tomorrow.  :)

Believe it or not, here is a page from me.  Since it is my own, I won't go on and on about all of things I love about it.  But I will say that I think it is pretty cute.  Joe and Kate are so adorable together.  I was a little concerned when I heard that she is now thinking she wants to marry Jordan.  Of course, he has never given her the time of day so that is probably why she is interested.  LOL.  Anyway, this paper is from the Rusty Pickle Girlfriends line.  It is one of my favorite collections.  And the monogram letters are from their brand new collection of corrugated alphabets.  They are awesome!!!  Seriously, one of my favorite new products.  Have a great day and we'll see you again tomorrow.

Christmas Joy by Jen M

I know, I know.  I am a cheater.  (although you probably didn't know that, but I am fessing up anyway).  I am feeling pretty lame right now because the Christmas challenge is my challenge and I haven't done a thing (and my gallery is pretty bare). Besides, as the other girls know, I am the queen and you can't argue with that kind of logic.  :) So, here is a page I did last year for QK that hasn't ever been posted. I love this page and I can't believe how little Jared was! I love unconventional colors for Christmas and winter layouts and I really love this CBX paper.  I promise, before the end of the month, I WILL post something new for this challenge.  I have 5 days left, right?  But just in case I don't...  enjoy!  Have a great day!
