Reflecting on previous birthdays, Jen decided to go back to her eighth birthday for this layout.   My favorite thing about Jen's pages is all of the neat little details she includes.  This photo brings back memories, doesn't it?  Good times for sure.

It is February 1 and as we approach Valentine's Day.... love is in the air.  Actually, after 14 years of marriage, Valentine's day isn't quite that big of a deal for us.   But, I still love any holiday that celebrates the color pink.  I have a few cool Valentine's projects to share this month but I am going to kick us off with a layout from Jen because I just plain love it (and it is pink).  I think this page is simple perfection.  Proof that your photo doesn't have to swallow the page and that white space is okay.  The gorgeous pinkness looks perfect with that beautiful picture of Jen and her sweetheart, Dave.  Enjoy and have a great day!

Today's layout is from Jen Sizemore.  Her page was inspired by the title treatment on this layout.  I had to look at both layouts for a minute to see what exactly the inspiration was and once I figured it out, I was reminded that it doesn't have to be obvious.  Sometimes the inspiration is as simple as a technique that you found interesting.  Well, that's it for today.  Have a good one!

I'm sorry for my hiatus last week.  I had the opportunity to go to Florida to meet up with Karen and Jen for a mini shop-a-thon.  We had a great time catching up and shopping.  But I am happy to be home and have things back to normal.  If you are interested in the details of our trip, they are posted on my personal blog.

Now back to business.  On Friday, Jen posted a challenge for us to get things kickstarted for the weekend.  She posted a link to this sketch (#23) for us to complete.  I always enjoy sketches because they are a great jumping off point for inspiration and it is always interesting to see what people come up with.  Today, I will post Jen's page.  She just got this precious new kitty (and I am thinking she picked white so she could use all of these girly colors... although I"m thinking her cat is a boy.  I should probably ask her about this). 90 Things by Jen S.

This page takes journaling to a whole new level.  Jen decided that she wanted to create a layout about 90 things she learned in college, using the number 90 because that was the year she graduated.  I think that it took her longer to make the list than it actually did to create the page.  I love the sentiment and the humor that she included in her list and that she was willing to put a picture of herself with her fabu 90s hair.  Some of us would rather put those photos in a bonfire so as to never have evidence that we did that to our hair.  But then again, that is who we were and that's what makes the layout even more fun. 

BTW, I'm sorry that I don't always have product lists to share.  It is hard keeping track of all of this info so if you are wondering about a certain element on a page, feel free to contact me and I'll try to get that info.  Thanks for stopping by!

I guess when you are the mom of a boy, the opportunity to use "bling" on a layout is somewhat limited.  Thank goodness for our pets! I love how Jen used the rhinestones on this page of her kitty. The circle of dots around an embellishment isn't necessarily a new idea but I have never seen it jazzed up with bling before.  I will totally be copying this idea some time soon!  Really, it's a shame Jen doesn't have any girls becuase she does girly so well.  But at least she is good at improvising.  :)  Have a great day!

Nature Lesson by Jen S.

Leave it to Jen Sizemore to commit to the "use your stash challenge" and make it look so effortless.  Although the products she used on this page would be considered "dated" in the terms of the constantly evolving scrapbook industry, this page is proof that it doesnt' mean you have to chuck the old to bring in the new.  I am reminded of how much I loved these KI lines and how I had to every single one of them when they were released.  Sadly, I have hardly put a dent in that paper collection.  Perhaps this is a good time to make use of some of it.  Or maybe I'll just send it to Jen and let her do something fabulous with it.  :)  Have a good one!
