Mother's Day Card by Sam

Another great use for sketches is to make cards.  Sam used the sketch posted yesterday to make this Mother's Day card.  I always love black accents with bright colors and I forget how  much I love handmade cards until I see them.

First Day of K by Sam

Sorry I have missed the last couple of days.  Karen was in town and we had a lot of shopping to do. But now we are back to the normal routine and I have a brand new layout to share from Sam.  She keeps very busy doing QuicKutz projects so it is always nice when she gets to do something just for fun... even more so when it is a challenge page.  Sam's inspiration came from the Page Maps April, 2007 sketch.  I know when I need a starting point, I always look to sketches.  This is a great way to get going and to quickly come up with a design you are sure to love.  Why make it harder than it has to be?

Happy Birthday by Sam

Sam's sweet little Isabel turned one earlier this month. The first thing Sam did on her birthday, was take some photos of her to commemorate the occasion.  Although Isabel wasn't sure how to feel about it, she quickly came around and put a big smile on her face.  Sam really knows how to keep things simple which is why I love her style.

HappyTrails by Sam

Sam's Daughter, Brooke, takes horseback riding lessons as a form of therapy for her Rett Syndrome.  This is one of the many photographs Sam has taken from her experience.  I love that she used the lyrics from "Happy Trails To you" and how she formatted them over the photograph.  She said that this page was created using a tutorial from Rhonna Farrer and that the flower border was created using an Elsie font.  I know this page is special to Sam because it shares a an important part of Brooke's life.  We are hopeful that they will find a way to reverse Rett Syndrome so that Brooke can look back on this page one day and appreciate what it truly means.  If you want to learn more about Rett Syndrome, visit Sam's Blog.  I am sure she would appreciate it.  Oh, and while you are there, tell her to fix her banner!!!!

Antigua by Sam

When Sam went to Guatemala to meet Isabel, she was so overwhelmed by the experience that she did not get to take many pictures of the scenery.  To remember her trip, she decided to create a collage using stock photos that she had found online.  Although they are not her own pictures, they helped her to capture the memories of her trip.  The overlapping collage design was inspired by the ad from the t.v. show Lost.  I think it is the perfect way to display all of these gorgeous photos and an awesome way to remember such a special trip.

September Calendar Page (Isabel) by Sam

As I was browsing through some pages from Sam, I came across this layout.  I can NOT believe I have not shared it before.  Sam did this at the end of last year when she was waiting to hear from the adoption agency.  The foster mother provided her with photos of Isabel on a regular basis so that Sam could see how she was growing.  As a mother, I am sure that Sam really appreciated this and as a scrapbooker, it goes without saying that she couldn't wait to get some of these photos scrapped!  Isn't she absolutely the cutest thing?  I love how soft and delicate this page is.  It works perfectly with the photo.

Together by Sam

I can't believe that I forgot to post about the newest member of the Classic Scrapper family.  Actually, she is not a scrapper quite yet, but hopefully one day.  :)  Awhile back, I mentioned that Sam was in the process of adopting a baby from Guatemala.  Just before Christmas, Isabel came to the United States to live with her new family.  Although Sam hasn't had much time to scrap with the adjustment of a new baby in the house, she managed to squeak out a few pages.  I imagine we will see many many more in the future.  This is our first peek at sweet Isabel.  She obviously was well cared for, wasn't she?  Can you think of a better Christmas gift?  Congratulations, Sam!

Pi by Sam

I think there are few people in this world who are capable of finding a quote about "Pi" and making it look this good.  Just further proof that Sam has some mad scrapbooking skills.  (am I ready for the hood yet?) If you don't know, Sam's husband, Jeff, is a high school math teacher.... so Pi is very important to him. Pi is very important to me, too.  However, they seem have forgotten the "e" on the end.  (Can you tell I am looking forward to Thanksgiving????)

Autumn by Sam

Happy Friday to you!  Can you believe the weekend is here already?  I hope that you have some fun and exciting plans.  Just birthdays & baseball parties for us.  It's always something, isn't it?

Today, I have another fall page from Sam.  I absolutely love this photograph of Brooke and Sam's mom.  And the colors she used are perfect.  They are so rich and do a wonderful job of bringing out the pumpkins in the picture.  (note my effort to not say "compliment").  I love this page so much I am starting to think I need to make one of these calendars now.   Can someone please tack on another 6 hours to my day?

Botanical Gardens & Common Bond by Sam

Today, I have two pages from Sam.  This first page was done for an article by Jen Sizemore for Scrapjazz about facing your scrapbooking fears.  Sam's is scrapping 8-1/2 x 11.  So she created this page.  I honestly think it is one of my favorite pages ever.  I think this size suits her perfectly and I wish she would do more!  Her second page is about meeting up with other parents of children with Rett Syndrome.  I love how she did the title using the colors in her patterned paper (Sam wants me to note that this was inspired by Cheryl).  And you will note that the second page does not line up with the first page perfectly due to the fact that she had to scan and merge 2 12x12 pages.  So join me in voting for Sam to join the ranks of 8-1/2 x 11 scrapbookers.  :)
