Well, here we are back from vacation... a week ago. And I am finally getting to my poor, neglected blog. The last week has been a blur. So much going on. Today really feels like the first day that things have been back to normal. I like normal. Chaos does not work for me.
We had an awesome vacation. (Lance's parents had a great time, too. We are already thinking about our next trip!) I can't say we did anything really exciting. Mostly we were just plain lazy and we ate entirely too much. I have made two observations where cruises are concerned:
1. Formal night is on day 2 because you will not be able to fit into your clothes if it is any later.
2. Going to the beach on day 4 is depressing because your new swimsuit does not look quite the same as it did when you tried it on before packing it in your suitcase.
Joseph had a blast celebrating his birthday on the boat. He even got a cake at dinner one night. All of the boys were treated like kings and they loved it! Jordan and Joe loved playing in the kids club and met lots of other kids. Jared did not like that so much so he only did it the first day. He has had seperation anxiety ever since. That has been challenging. But we are working on it.
Now that we have returned home, we have been gearing up for baseball...
Joseph was drafted to the Padres. Lance said his team looks like they are going to be really good. That is encouraging. The season starts at the beginning of March.
Jordan is playing for the Rattlers again. I thought about going back and reading how many times I have posted that we are not going to play for them any more, but I am not sure I can count that high. We really like playing for them but we weren't sure Jordan was emotionally ready for another season of such intense baseball. However, they really wanted us to come back so we agreed. We had our first tournament this past weekend! Our team has a lot of new players this season and they have only been together for a few weeks so it was fun to see them all come together and play so well.... on day 1, anyway. They won their first game and then tied the second. Yesterday we came back for another game and just couldn't get it together. Losing was a bummer but it was freezing cold, Jared's socks were covered in mud (I am sure I don't need to explain why) and it was starting to rain. I was happy to go home. We are going to go back out and play again this weekend. Hopefully the weather will be nicer and the end result will be better. :) Oh and Jordan got out 4 times and only got upset once. That is a BIG deal to us.
Here are a few other things that have been going on:
1. We painted our game room red. It looks AWESOME. I'll post pictures later.
2. We finally took off all of the child locks from our cabinets and we removed the gate from our study. And in an effort to find a new home for all of my new Southern Living items, I cleaned out my kitchen cabinets and reorgnized everything. I feel so liberated. Now if only I could do that with my study!
3. My mom's birthday was last week. I can only hope I look as good as she does at 70. (just kidding mom). My family ages well and she looks great! I sent her pink & white M&M's that were customized with "We Love Grandma" and "Happy Birthday". She promised to save a bag so that we can see them. My mom LIVES for chocolate and I was very proud of this gift.
Well, that is about it from here. I finally went back to the gym after 3 weeks and that was depressing. But I survived. It has been raining all day so there isn't much to do. I am hoping to format my pictures from the cruise so I can post them. I think I got some really good shots. I'll post this one for now. This is probably my favorite from the trip... the tree amigos. :) I'll try to post the rest tomorrow. Have a good one!
