After the long day before, the boys had a tumultuous night which led to some difficult life lessons and gave them an opportunity to come even closer together. They had the choice to play or go home and when all was said and done, they chose to play. And play they did!
Because of the late night, their game against the Aces was pushed back to later in the day so they started at 10:00 a.m. against the Antelope Valley Avengers from Southern California. It was a tough game but they walked out with a 9-6 victory.
Their next game was against the Lafayette Harrison Raiders from Indiana. They knew this would be a tough game and it was. They finished the first inning tied 2-2 but the Bulldogs opened up with a 6 run inning in the third. While they gave up 4 runs in the fourth, they were able to hold on for the 8-6 win. One more game to go!
The final game of the day was the long anticipated PTC Aces game that they had started the day before. The game was scoreless for the first three innings and the Aces came out in the fourth and final inning to score one run. Of course, the Bulldogs don't give up. Joey got on base with a walk and advanced thanks to a sacrifice bunt by Antonio. Jacobe reached on an error by the catcher and Joey scored the game tying run. Faced with the winning run on base and only one out, the Aces choose to intentionally Walk Jared and Isaac to load the bases. I understand why they did it but they were no match for CJ's bat. He hit a line drive single to advance Jacobe home and win the ball game!
After a very emotional day, the Bulldogs finished as the #7 seed with a record of 4-1 in pool play. Hard to believe a record that good would leave them with such a low seed, but there were 17 teams!
Tomorrow will be pool play. Win or go home!
