Day 3 started with an early wake up call after a late night. Unfortunately, there were thunderstorms in the area which resulted in several delays before our start time which was pushed to noon. When they walked on the field, you could tell that things were not going to go well. All of the fun finally took a toll and led to a demoralizing 16-0 loss to Get Dirty from California. That team could hit and there was nothing we could do to stop them. Fortunately, the boys had a break after the game which gave them some time to get some rest and regroup. They would return to play again at 7:00 p.m.
Of course, when it rains, it pours... literally. Shortly after our second game began, the rain started to come down and caused a significant delay which ultimately resulted in a cancellation for the day. The game would be rescheduled for tomorrow. Fortunately, there was a big pavilion area where we were able to wait out the storm. The boys found several inventive ways to kill time. They spent time trying to push water off of the tent and cause a big splash of water to fall down, and they spent quite a bit of time flipping gatorade bottles onto a table to see if would land right side up. My favorite was watching them try to toss sunflower seeds into Andrew's mouth while he lay on the ground. I put the video on our Youtube channel because I thought it was pretty funny. Here is the link:
And this is the most pitiful picture of the week. Not sure if it was because they didn't want to take the photo or because they were sad about the rainout. I think I know the answer but I am going to go with the latter. 😉
